...if you dare...
I hope the ESME core team is not demotivated by disappointing feedback from Las Vegas. The DemoJam is not the primary goal, and the mood of the moment might not be a good advisor.

@vdichev : Not at all! At least not from my side..it just made me want to go to Berlin to show them just how wrong they were

I'm really happy to hear that, that's an attitude I like :) Was getting a bit worried about the mail discussion.
@vdichev : we had a good positive scrum call today
mrinal: 2008/09/22 conversation
Nice to know you figured it out in the scrum! Besides, temporary difficulties can be just as motivating as successes, I see.
@vdichev : I think how this team works, is anyway not like any other "normal" team I have worked with so far LOL
As an outsider lurking in the discussions, I'm also impressed by the motivation of the team. You know you don't see that often.
@vdichev : We had a good call this evening, were we realized that we are on the same track
btw I suck bad at UI, you shouldn't trust me if I give advice about UI :) I mean, if it depended on me, ESME would only have a console-based interface ;-)
@vdichev : ROFL A console-base UI would really raise some eyebrows
@vdichev : well console based UI is not that bad actually .. some of the best UIs IMO .. eg: Google.com and Mozilla Ubiquity are essentially command lines
Console
Ui
Design
No, I actually like the current Web UI a lot. I mean just look at this real-time conversation, I forget I'm in a browser!
@mrinal Sure, lots of examples. Quicksilver and even Twitter- remember the IM commands. Forgot there was IM in Twitter, right? :)
thinking about command lines
Text
the ultimate command line would be voice based
Voice
@mrinal Not sure I agree about voice. You need AI to resolve ambiguities. I'm still having misunderstandings talking with my wife, how could software understand me better? :)
Ai
@vdichev : well freeform is not available even in text based command lines and that carries over to voice ..
@vdichev : although communication and ambiguity will aways be together .. no matter how natural interfaces get .. human-human interfaces are ambiguous even after thousands on years
This goes down deeper- expressiveness of language vs. gestures/pictures.
@vdichev : OR the combination of both of them .. real life communication
Oh, one cannot replace the other. Believing otherwise is a mistake.
Thinking there are too many developers who believe they can only program using drag & drop. Imagine a person who can't speak (not even using sign language)...
