@sudhirrs : could you please check the memory consumption of ESME Desktop on your system right now?

Esme Desktop
@sudhirrs : does the flickering stop when you turn the video off?
The ESME Descktop flickers heavily when I have a video running behind it. May be it is just my laptop
sudhirrs: 2008/10/13 conversation
@mrinal : OK.
dickhirsch: 2008/09/24 conversation
@dickhirsch : hmm ok .. I'll try and take some time to send you a debug version that does some local logging, that may help in figuring out what's going on
mrinal: 2008/09/24 conversation
@mrinal : yes. we-client worked fine-
@dickhirsch : and during these problems you could still access the Internet (outside the corporate walls) from your browser?
FW: @dickhirsch : had strange error where ESMEDesktop had 99% CPU << could you elaborate what happened?
check out the ESME Desktop install badge http://experiments.mrinalwadhwa.com/ESME Install Badge/

@mrinal : OK, I will do that :) Thanks!
yojibee: 2008/09/17 conversation
@yojibee : that's a bug, could you log it on google code please, so I dont forget :)
@mrinal : I would suggest putting as much as possible on the Google site. We have a lot of content. Fresh content is a sign of activity which shows people that we are going forward

testing message replies from ESME Desktop
FW: @yojibee : We could fork at some point, one downgrade for Linux and one 1.1 with functionalities.. << that is a possibility but AIR apps ideally should have only one binary distributable
We could fork at some point, one downgrade for Linux and one 1.1 with functionalities..
yojibee: 2008/09/10
@dickhirsch : no .. downgrading later maybe a problem if we have a fairly big userbase .. i have to research this more .. if we dont downgrade then Linux ESME Desktop version will come out only when adobe upgrades AIR linux runtime
@yojibee : I agree. New functionality before downgrading. We can always downgrade later
dickhirsch: 2008/09/10
@yojibee : true, but if we use this everyday ... testing will be automatic unlike till now
@mrinal : That's what I mean..Berlin is only 5 weeks away, and I am not sure we have time for rigerously testing. We have to focus on new functionality first
@yojibee : I dont anticipate much problem in downgrading, except we will have to rigerously test our code again to make sure we dont break the Windows an Mac versions .. will ask the guys
@mrinal : I think we should check with the group first. There won't be many Linux users in the enterprise world..not sure if we should focus on this now
We are using latest AIR SDK 1.1 for ESME Desktop .. Linux AIR runtime does not support that yet ... thinking if we should downgrate temporarily
ESME Desktop not working on Linux, will meet @jayanth in the afternoon to figure out what is going on
mrinal: 2008/09/09
helping @jayanth setup ESME Desktop on Linux
@jayanth : just sent it .. will appreciate brutally honest opinions :)
@jayanth : Thanks, sending it now
@mrinal : Wait till I get to work where I can watch it more closely

Memory Drain
@dickhirsch : The AIr client memory consumption has improved in this version .. but still have to put some time into that, how's it looking at your end?
I am thoinking of combining Word and Tag cloud data on the client for a more relavent cloud .. I think explicit tags are more accurate to the context so I can give the preference say 1 Tag = 1.2 word
Tag Cloud
Word Cloud
@abesh : thank you, checkout search/track, my favorite feature so far .. functionality still a little flacky though
demo went very well ...now we need to get ready for Open Source announcement and ESME Desktop public release
